Symmetrical Triangle: A sideways chart pattern between two converging trendlines in which the upper trendline is declining and the lower trendline is rising. This pattern represents an even balance between buyers and sellers,
although the prior trend is usually resumed. (emphasis mine) The breakout through either trendline signals the direction of the price trend. See ChartSchool article on
Symmetrical Triangle (Continuation).

XAU should print another marginal new all time high (200-210) in the coming days before correcting again to the apex of its continuation triangle. One more minor correction in the PM complex from the 1st week in March will likely mark the start of the 3rd and final leg higher in the PM cycle that started on 8/16/07. Gold shares could have a nice move on the 3rd leg although I suspect the metal will continue to outperform. The time to have owned gold shares was when energy costs were substantially lower and when the S&P500 was still in a bull market. These two factors are no longer the case unfortunately. Stick with the metal.

history says otherwise. gold topped jan21 1980. the shares topped in september of that year and had a breathtaking run. when the public enters they will give new life to the shares. the hui/gold ratio has parameters for a reason, its based on history.
